Cold River Homestead
We are a small but very productive homestead located in the southern Pacific mountains of Costa Rica.
Extensive Fruit Trees and Plantings
Started in 2014, we now grow about 50 different types of perennial fruits, a variety of versatile root crops, and many different greens and medicinal plants.
Production, production!
In addition we have a flock of laying hens and a pond full of tilapia raised in mountain spring water. The homestead allows us to grow a great percentage of our food and medicines, and we produce several value added products for ourselves and others. The bulk of our electricity needs are met through renewable energy, and our water is also sourced from the mountain….100% pure.
Want to visit?
Our homestead has been a destination for many visitors with interest in how we live over the years, and our comfortable rental home next door, Casa Buena Vista de Pejibaye, is a great option for those who would like a deeper dig into what we’re doing.

Cold river homestead Focus
Health & Wellness
The primary propulsion behind Cold River Homestead is its focus on health and healing, as we strive to eat mostly foods that are produced on our homestead or from local trusted farmers. Our diet is largely plant-based with lots of fruits and vegetables from our gardens and fruit trees. Also, Todd, Jill & Toby all three strive to maintain a high fitness level through a variety of exercises, including weight training.
